At our school, literacy is more than just learning to read and write—it’s about opening up a world of imagination, expression, and understanding. In our early years and primary classrooms, we’re nurturing strong, confident communicators through fun, creative, and meaningful experiences every day.
Storytime is a treasured part of our day. Whether it’s a lively group read-aloud, a puppet show, or exploring picture books in our cozy reading corner, children are immersed in rich language and new ideas. Books spark their imaginations, grow their vocabulary, and help them connect with emotions and the world around them.
Even before they form full sentences, our pupils begin expressing themselves through mark-making, drawing, and sounding out words. From writing their names to creating their first storybooks, every scribble matters. We celebrate every effort, helping them build confidence as young writers.
We use engaging songs, actions, and games to teach phonics—the building blocks of reading. Blending sounds, spotting letters in the environment, and playing word games make learning to read active and exciting.
Literacy starts with talk! Our classrooms are full of conversation—from show-and-tell to role-play—helping children develop the communication skills that form the foundation for reading and writing success.
We believe that every child is a storyteller, a thinker, and a reader in the making. With the right support, encouragement, and a love for books, our learners are building the skills they need for a bright academic future.
